Get Fit! Get Active! Walk Around the World!
Walk Around the World is back and now in its fourth year!
Join hundreds of people in Lane Cove and track your steps to collectively walk around the world. Walk Around the World promotes the incorportation of exercise into your everyday lifestyle to reduce the risk of chronic lifestyle diseases. Anyone can join. Whether you live in Lane Cove or further afield, the program is open to anyone and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Register today for $20 to receive your pedometer and start walking. Login to ‘My Page’ to track your steps, compare how you are going to other participants and to help us get around the world (we are aiming for twice this year). You don't need to raise money, just to challenge yourself to do as many steps as you can over the month of March. Your registration fees are invested back into the community and are put towards installation of public exercise equipment and play equipment for children with disabilities in our local public parks.
Join a team or register as an individual and challenge yourself – there are goals for every level of fitness. You can challenge your family or your neighbours. If you area small business why not challenge the business next door, or if you are a large organisation the event is perfect for corperate wellbeing and team building. You may even win a prize!
'Walk Around the World' is a initiative of Lane Cove Council, The Rotary Club of Lane Cove and Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre. It is endorsed by Diabetes NSW and celebrity spokesperson Rob Palmer.
Public excercise eqipment was installed at Bob Campbell Oval in Greenwich in 2014 using funds raised from the 2013 Walk Around the World Program.
