Walk around the World is a community fitness project which aims to get the community to ‘walk around the world’. It was developed from health recommendations that people should incorporate exercise into their everyday lifestyle to reduce their risk of chronic lifestyle diseases.
‘Walk around the World’ is an initiative of Lane Cove Council, The Rotary Club of Lane Cove and Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre. It is endorsed by the Australian Diabetes Council and celebrity spokesperson Rob Palmer. The money raised goes back into the community and is used to purchase exercise stations for adults in various parks and also playground equipment for children with disabilities.
New excercise equipment is going in! Head down to Bob Campbell oval at Greenwich to see the new installation of exercise equipment for the general public - funded from proceeds of Walk Around the World 2013. The site should be open for use by the 26th March 2014.
